LASIK eye surgery

With LASIK eye surgery, all you need to do is lay on a bed while the surgical team does the rest. There is nothing you can do to affect LASIK treatment and you will feel no pain throughout any step of the procedure. If you'd like to know more about LASIK eye surgery, read on.

If, on the other hand, you'd just like to see if you're suitable, call us to book your free consultation on 0845 409 2408.

What happens during LASIK surgery?

With LASIK treatment the eye surgeon creates a thin flap through the top layer of the cornea (the clear lens at the front of your eye). The flap is very gently folded over and the surgeon performs the laser treatment on the layer underneath.

The laser literally vaporises away some of your corneal tissue beneath the flap to make your cornea a slightly different shape which ultimately corrects your refractive error.
The flap is then replaced and left to heal naturally without the need for any stitches. LASIK eye surgery is virtually painless and offers rapid recovery.

What can you expect after LASIK surgery?

You should be able to see better 1-2 hours after the treatment has been completed, but you will notice the dramatic difference when you wake up the next day.
Even though your sight will be reasonably good soon after LASIK, your eyesight will not have recovered sufficiently to allow you to drive. However, you should be able to drive after your first check-up.

Most people soon get back to their normal routine - even going back to work the next day. However, this will depend on your type of work. Find out more about LASIK surgery aftercare.
