Mr Chang has been a consultant at Yorkshire Eye Hospital since it opened in January 2003. He feels that the hospital is unique in that ophthalmologists have designed it. Mr Chang says, 'My colleagues and I cover all the sub-specialties within ophthalmology. This means that patients with specific conditions are appropriately referred and will receive the best level of care.'
Mr Chang has been a Consultant Ophthalmologist in Leeds since 2002, and he has a special interest in oculoplastics and lacrimal and orbital surgery.
In his spare time, Mr Chang enjoys playing tennis, badminton and watching plays and musicals.
Mr Chang is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Head of Oculoplastics, Lacrimal and Orbital surgery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr Chang is also the current Honorary Secretary of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, UK. He served as Council member on the Royal College of Ophthalmologists for five years prior to this.
He was also elected member (since 2005) of the Ophthalmic Group Committee of the British Medical Association and ophthalmic member of the National Ocular Oncology Group, UK. He is on the Joint Committee on Surgical Training, serving on the interface Group on Cosmetic Surgery. He also serves on the Committee on the Safety of Devices helping the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory agency (MHRA) to make medical devices and their use safer and more effective in the UK.
Mr Chang has published many papers in international journals and has also co-authored a medical textbook entitled 'Anterior Segment Repair & Reconstruction: Techniques & Medico-legal issues'.
