We continuously survey our patients and publish their feedback on a quarterly basis.

In our last survey of patients, 100% of patients agreed that:

• Their greeting at main reception was courteous and informative
• The hospital was well organised
• The doctors and nurses worked well together
• They were treated with respect and dignity
• The care they received met their expectations
• The hospital was clean, tidy and well presented

Surgical results audit

By continually auditing its surgical results Yorkshire Eye Hospital can assure patients of the highest quality of care.

Here we compare our results with those from the National Cataract Pilot Electronic Study (Medisoft), the most up-to-date study in the UK of over 55,000 cases.

Patients achieving a visual acuity of 6/12 or better following cataract surgery (in eyes with no other eye disease)  (1st June 2006 to 31st August 2007)

Rate of posterior capsule rupture during cataract surgery  (1st June to 31st August 2007)

This is when the delicate membrane behind the lens breaks during cataract surgery. This will inevitably happen in some cases but a low rate is an indication of high quality skilled surgery.

Endophthalmitis 

Endophthalmitis is a serious infection in the eye following surgery.

Previous surveys have shown a 1 in 350 endophthalmitis rate within the NHS
