Uncompromising surgical expertise

Yorkshire Eye Hospital was founded in 2002 by a group of 18 NHS consultant ophthalmologists. Their ambition was to create a centre of excellence where the screening and treatment of all eye conditions can be done to the highest standards.

Each of the consultant surgeons is an acknowledged expert in their own field of ophthalmology and has a proven track record as both an expert and surgical teacher in their chosen field including

Using the model of ambulatory care all surgery is undertaken on a day case basis.

The hospital now offers the complete range of laser eye surgery and non-laser surgery options for any patients seeking better vision.

These include LASEK, LASIK and the latest Zyoptix Wavefront laser eye treatments, which permit customised treatment for demanding refractive problems.

Unlike many other laser clinics, unsuitable patients can consider alternative lens surgery such as Implantable Contact Lenses and Artisan lenses, similar to small contact lenses but placed permanently inside the eye.

For those whose sight is worsening with age, intraocular lens replacement means that near and far vision can be restored with less need for glasses.

The Hospital's specialist consultants working in the refractive surgery team include fully trained corneal and lens surgery specialists, and others with many years of laser surgery experience. The hospital is visited and registered by the Healthcare Commission.
