Many people comment that the day of treatment is in fact the easiest part of the whole process of becoming a laser eye surgery patient.
All you have to do is show up and we'll take care of the rest. Shortly after you arrive, your Patient Services Advisor or Ophthalmic Nurse will greet you to begin preparing you for your treatment.
The two of you will have a short discussion regarding:
You will be led to the theatre suite, where your surgeon will have already ensured that the laser is calibrated properly and all the instruments they need throughout the procedure are sterilised and laid out in front of them.
A nurse will ask you to lie down on the laser bed. Shortly thereafter, the treatment will commence as your surgeon gently talks you through the entire procedure, so you are at no time surprised about what happens next.
The whole procedure takes a little over 10 minutes per eye while the laser is actually treating your eye for only a minute or two. Some patients want to know how laser eye treatment works; others just care about how they feel after they can see without glasses.
Don't worry, most patients are surprised that it's over so quickly and even wonder what all the fuss was about.
The most pleasant surprise can be what you can see immediately as you rise from the bed. We won't spoil it for you, but you may not believe your eyes.
And now, your laser eye surgery aftercare begins...
