LASEK

Some people do not have thick enough corneas for a LASIK procedure; LASEK offers a more suitable treatment for them.

In LASEK the epithelium is removed with a drop of weak alcohol solution, the laser applied as before, the epithelium is replaced back onto the eye and held in place with a contact lens. The contact lens is then removed a few days later. LASEK is hence a no knife operation. There is no pain during the operation just like PRK and LASIK.

There can be some pain afterwards but this is not usually severe.

Visual recovery is slower with LASEK normally the vision at 1 day post op with LASIK is the same as 1 week but at 2 weeks there is no difference. Again, you must adhere to the aftercare advice given by the clinical team.
